This month we are introducing a group of recreational athletes who come together to have fun, stay active, and enjoy the thrill of learning gymnastics. We interviewed a few of the athletes to ask them why they like gymnastics:
"Gymnastics makes my body have power and energy" - Persis C.
"Gymnastics is really, really fun." - Sierra C.
"I get to move my body!" - Marlee M.

When practicing on the beam, it is important to focus your gaze on either your hands or feet on the beam, or at the end of the beam. This will greatly help with balance! For example, when performing a cartwheel on the beam, ensure that you look at your hands on the beam first, followed by watching the landing of your first foot, then your second foot. Finally, present and look the end of the beam to stick it!

Hey there, I am Janice and I thought I could share some fun facts about myself!
1.) I am from Lloydminster.

4.) I have one black lab dog named Bella.
5.) I am a school counsellor at Duclos Elementary School.

7.) I love to watch all the events. It always amazes me to see what these young athletes are able to do.
8.) Growing up I played volleyball and ringette.
9.) I like to read but most of my free time is spent getting to watch my girls do the sports they love.
10.) Hands down my favorite food is chicken tacos, but pasta is a close second.
11.) My goal this year is to travel to B.C. to do some whale watching.
12.) My goal for the club this year is to have a welcoming and positive environment for all athletes and their families. I’m excited to see what this year brings and watch our club continue to grow!
